Missing

I know this looks bad. Don’t let it, I am not missing. Just the title of the post.

This time of the year, I feel like a huge piece of me is missing, which is all back from where I moved. When I moved to be with Big Chewy, it was a spur of the moment. I had two weeks to pack up my stuff, my sons stuff, grab my 2-year-old, and leave. The thing is I left and plan to never look back, as hard as that might be. Not that I am against my family, but I could never willingly move back when I know my son and I are possibly not safe, not to mention the huge drug epidemic home now has.

I miss a lot of people, because we had a lot of traditions. We used to have the peppermint pig, we use to do finding the pickle, too. That one was always fun. My plans this year is to at least incorporate the peppermint pig. Who doesn’t want to smash a yummy pig into little bits? It was always the highlight of our Christmas.

Actually, there was also the 7 fishes. That dates waaay back to when to Roman Catholics didn’t eat meat near Christmas time, so they had the Feast of Seven Fishes. I can say we definitely don’t do that, we just happen to be one of those Italian families that have incorporated it into our life. I remember one year my grandmother didn’t want to cook (though the running joke is she really can’t, but she can if she tries) she decided instead of another fish, since they brought 3, they also brought Swedish Fish. For us, that was good enough and counted as such.

I just wish I could go home for a holiday. I don’t get to see my brother, my mom or dad, or my grandparents, or my uncle with whom I grew up with, and now he’s raising his own look-a-like. The holidays were always big, and sometimes here I feel out of place, and it hurts. No one here seems to (want) to understand, since Baby Chewy was too little, Big Chewy has his mom who lives with us, and they have his aunt and all her kids.

I wish it was safe for us to go, but its not. That’s the thing I really wish, but I don’t know when It will happen. It sucks when I have grown up there, have friends there, have livelihood there. Here, I had to change my entire personality to be in a hippie town where you could probably literally see smoke from. (That is kind of an inside joke for anyone who is wondering.)

Well, there is my first emotional piece. Wish people warned you that growing up isn’t the best thing in the world like us kids think it is.

It sucks.

What to Expect for Blogmas

If I haven’t said it enough, Blogmas has started, indeed. I have a couple decent ideas, but they are subjected to change.

My goal is of course blogging every day (given) but I am also starting to be able to open up, so you might be seeing more personal things from me. Not that I can say anyone would or wouldn’t be interested in that, but it’s worth a try.

Cold

The winter season is upon us, and it has finally become unbearable.

Yesterday I went to help my aunt with her shed, we also blessed some moms that needed help. Two with a tree, one with a bed, and one for something else I couldn’t remember. Whatever it was, it meant something to all of the moms, and I am so glad we were able to help.

However, yesterday ALL DAY it did nothing but pour. It wasn’t too bad, but it was bad enough where I was soaked from head to toe, but the end of the 6 hours we spent going through this pod, I was basically a sloshing puddle of water and mud.

Today I wore a dress because I was interviewing and observing in a class, and it feels much, much worse than yesterday. I feel like it’s colder, more dreary. Thank God I don’t have to wake up and go out this morning. Baby Chewy can just come cuddle me and that will be our morning. Only two more weeks until his schools out, exactly a week until mine is out. Just gotta take it day by day.

Did I mention I am from Florida? Floridians don’t do winter. Sometimes I wonder why I moved to what seems like one of the coldest, rainiest places in the U.S.

Why I Love Christmas

Christmas gets a bad wrap sometimes. (Pun intended) It might be because it gets earlier and earlier, and people are noticing. Of course, there’s a reason for this. That, however, is for another blog post if people are interested.

I love Christmas, and 100% involved in the terror that is pretending Thanksgiving almost doesn’t exist. This year I attempted to put up decorations before Halloween, and Halloween is another one of my favorite holidays.

Personally, Christmas is just one of those seasons. Like, it’s not just a holiday. It’s an entire season when you usually see the best come out of those you may avoid the rest of the year because it’s something about the season that changes people. I have no clue what it does, but it does it right.

I also love this time as a mother because we get to get our children to bless others with toys they don’t play with or are getting too old for now. This helps show our children what we call the “Christmas spirit” although it’s really Jesus’ spirit, and as our children get older, they will know this better.

It’s  just a happy time. Enjoy it.

Christmas List of a Momma

Do you ever get asked what you want for Christmas? It might be the most wracking question for a parent. The mature side of you wants to say “nothing”, but then the less mature portion might have a huge list of items.

Partly a joke, partly true, here is a mommas Wish List:

-Bills paid

-Monetary Stability

-Paid Spa Treatment

-An hour alone. Not even a whole day.

-Breakfast in bed

-Movie day

-Date night

-Chocolates

-Dinner made

-An hour to do whatever they want for enjoyment

What else would you want to put on this list?

Let’s Fight

My keys are hot and so is my mind. I had to take a small break for the holdiays, I know I failed at NANOWRIMO, and that’s okay. Blogmas will work out because I love Christmas and can’t wait for that.

Now, while I was away, the F.C.C. wants to get rid of net neutrality. Let’s discuss this a bit. Are you a parent, a student, or anyone who enjoys the free reign that our internet currently give us? I am very blessed, and if you’re able to read this, you are too. Now imagine that you didn’t have that free reign and that you had to pay to go on social media or had to pay to email your teachers/professors. Is that a world you want to live in? Not I. I can’t see this being successful.

Don’t get me wrong, in some ways it may be. Without being able to or wanting to pay for the ability to access certain applications, we might actually have a disconnected world, like people have been begging for. People will indeed have to put their phones down if its not ringing constantly, due to messages or anything else.

Even with that being a possible positive, there may be far more negative that outweighs it, Some people make money creating content, stores through the web, that can hurt the economy and we could put more people in our country at risk for not being able to make a living for themselves.

We have until December 14th until the F.C.C. makes their votes against Title 2 that makes it so we can access everything. Without it we are looking at an extra $100 or so a month for addons, including news stations, social media, music, messaging, gaming, and other things we currently take for granted that we don’t realize, and we don’t want people to realize it when it is gone.

So the question: What can you, the American people, do?

The F.C.C. has chosen to ignore the voice of the American people, so now is the time to bear what you have.

On December 7th, all across the country, people are gathering to be able to fight against this with peaceful protests outside of Verizon stores.

Lets fight a good fight, guys.

Thankful: November 15th

Today, I am thankful for the nature. Outdoors are so important, and such a great, amazing thing to me. We live in a beautiful world that is taken for granted, and I think everyone needs more outside time. It helps with depression, calms people down. Best memories are made when people are outdoors.

One of my best memories is sitting outside, around a bonfire with a martini or some other type of drink. Bonfires are maybe one of my favorite things ever.

I feel like the biggest issue with outside is that in the summer, there’s sun, and the sun can burn and blister your skin. However, with enough protection for your skin, I think it’s a great thing to go out and learn something. Learn to pitch a tent, fish, something.

Thankful Posts November 13th and 14th

November 13th: I am thankful for electricity today. If it wasn’t for electric, my mother-in-law wouldn’t be able to breathe, and I wouldn’t be able to play games to escape from reality sometimes. It also helps to entertain my son when I need that 5 minutes to clean, cook, or do homework. Honestly, if we didn’t have electric we would probably find different ways to entertain ourselves and our children, but with this day and age and only minutes at a time, electric is the real MVP here.

November 14th: I am thankful for games. Honestly. I am not a violent person, and usually I am calm and level headed. If not, however, I do enjoy picking up the occasional game so that I can get anger/anxiety or even depression I may be feeling out a bit, so that I can go back to thinking well.

I’m sorry for not letting you guys know, but I will be either writing something very simple or not writing at all on the weekends. I am deciding to take weekends for my family, unless there’s something huge.

Thankful: November 10th

I am thankful today for food. Rather, the ability to buy and prepare healthy foods.

I know that there’s a lot of places that are actual food deserts, and the loss of honey bees doesn’t help, because now there might be a possible drop in food production in the future. (don’t roast me if there is and I don’t know. I don’t follow that type of thing unless its right there in my face or something. I tend not to find trouble unless it comes to me.) This all being said, I am very thankful that we currently have the ability to purchase food that is nutritious for us and our bodies.
